Week 40 Of My Pregnancy - In Retrospect

I was browsing through my hard drive and found some photos I took during my last week of pregnancy. Now I can't possibly not post them here. What an incredible journey I've had so far! Now that my baby is 7 months old, I started to look at my pregnancy in a different light.

It was all singing and dancing when I was pregnant, Gosh, no! How can I forget the morning sickness , or shall I say all-day sickness during the first three months, the weight gain, the swollen body, the difficulty seeing my toes, the struggle of tying my shoes, the constant toilet trips and showering at my in-laws'? You heard me right, we had no shower last summer as my husband decided it was the best time for a bathroom renovation! We had to drive all the way to my mother-in-laws' to take a shower every day for three months!

Other than those perks I just mentioned, I have to admit that I was fortunate enough to have a straight forward pregnancy. Everything went well and smoothly, pretty much, and I am very grateful for that. I kept being active and doing pregnancy yoga every week and walked whenever I can. Not only that, despite looking rather 'large', I actually felt pretty amazing most of the time! I did get told by a couple of people that I looked, or my bump looked rather large! Yes, there are some charming people out there! I actually didn't feel big at all, and I remember feeling really positive and fit for the majority of my pregnancy.

The last week of my pregnancy - week 40, however, things did become hard. My bump was so heavy and I actually felt it weighed me down when I lay in bed. Don't even get me started on turning over or getting out of bed to go to the toilet several times during the night. It just wasn't comfortable anymore! I remember ordering curry takeaways twice a week and selecting the hottest dishes on the menu, going on long walks every day, hoping my baby would come on time. Imagine a woman with a big bump waddling around the neighbourhood and in the park alone, that was me!

All those efforts paid off, my baby made her way to the world strictly on time, right in fact right after midnight on my due day. If you missed my labour and birthing story (totally cool, no horror story), please click here

Looking at these photos, all those feelings came back. It was as if only yesterday I was standing in the garden, pestering my husband to take the photos of me. How would I know that seven months on, I would have this precious little bundle of joy in my life? Everyday I feel so blessed, that I have her in my world and I keep asking, what have I done to deserve all this? A little angel has descended in my life.
